Director General - Level Talks on Customs Co-operation |

The 13th Director General - Level Talks on Customs Co-operation between India and Nepal was held from 16lh to 18th December, 2009 at Kathmandu. The 7-member Indian delegation was led by Ms. Vijai Lakshmi Sharma, Director General of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi and the 14-member Nepalese delegation was led by Mr. Bodh Raj Niroula, Director General, Department of Customs, Nepal, Discussion was held on issues pertaining to Customs and allied matters. The Nepalese side requested for early implementation of the provisions of new Treaty of Trade signed on 27.10.2009. The Indian side has assured of early arrangements for operationalising the new provisions. The issues raised by Nepal relating to transit of third country goods were discussed in detail. The Indian side raised the issues of increase in import of Betel Nuts and subsequent smuggling of Betel Nuts to India across the Indo-Nepal border and the issue of unauthorised trade and smuggling of contraband goods into India.
